YouTube API Access

When you choose to connect your YouTube account, we request access to manage your YouTube playlists. This is an optional feature that you control.

What Access We Request

We request the YouTube API scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube

This permission is requested through incremental authorization - it is only requested when you click "Add to Playlist" for the first time or "Connect to YouTube" from the profile page, not during initial sign-in.

What We Do With YouTube Access

We use your YouTube access exclusively for playlist management:

  • Automatically create a playlist called "Reaction Cloud" on your YouTube account (only when you first add a video)
  • Add videos that you select to your "Reaction Cloud" playlist
  • Display your playlist video count in your profile

What We Do NOT Do

We explicitly do NOT:

  • Upload any videos to your YouTube channel
  • Modify your channel settings or information
  • Access your private videos or playlists
  • Post comments or interact with videos on your behalf
  • Access your YouTube viewing history or watch data
  • Modify or delete any of your existing content
  • Use your account for monetization or advertising

Token Storage and Security

  • YouTube access tokens are securely stored in our database
  • Tokens are automatically refreshed when needed to maintain access
  • All API calls use your personal YouTube quota, not our system quota
  • You can revoke access at any time through your Google Account settings

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:
